This is the 2nd Principle from my most important article for you.Titrating means feeling/thinking/sensing in doses, within your capacity.
To titrate = to measure out the intensity of your experience.
You are pausing and getting back to the thought/emotion/sensation when you are in a more balanced state.
Titrating = means NOT feeding the emotional/mental/physical outburst.
There is a difference between an emotional experience and an inadequate "fueling" of emotional reactions — learn to distinguish this in yourself.
If you are starting to "drown" in an experience, do not allow an overflow — titrate.
Titration = observing the desire of the brain and body to "get lost" in something.
"Going into your trauma" is a thing nowadays, but you can do that only if your nervous system is solid and ready. When you mastered
these 4 principles.
Titration examples:- in a conflict/argument: pause and talk later when you get back in a more balanced state. Orienting and resources can help.
- emotional outbursts/high sensitivity (flashbacks, anxiety and panic attacks, mood swings, rage etc): remember that you don’t need to keep feeding the emotion to then drown in it. If necessary, distract yourself and recover via resources.
- when reading the news/consuming meaningless content: suppress your desire to get lost in information for a long time. Remember to orient. Nurture your strength through resources.
Biological basis of titrationThe titration principle is to ensure you are doing a safe work with your experiences and trauma. Titration prevents systems overload and helps to expand your capacity and resilience.
It is the principle of titration that allows you to master and maintain internal balance and learn new skills correctly! The term "titration" was borrowed from chemistry and introduced by Peter Levine, a psychotraumatologist and author of the somatic experiencing method.
I highly reccomend

In somatic work,
Titration means having an experience but not making it destructive.❓ “What if my whole life is an overload of stress and trauma?”
☑️ Go back to
resources,
orienting and
intelligence as often as possible, regularly. If you are psychologically wounded, it is your duty and responsibility as an adult to heal yourself until your emotional capacity and stress resilience grow big enough. Then you will be able to let in more experiences (including happy ones!) and more knowledge, skills, actions, people.Until then — titrate.
